Hello! I'm Ida Tinker,
your future designer.

Here is my pitch for Flash Pack.

This page is my application for your Senior Product Designer role. I'm a Lead Product Designer in London with 10+ years in consumer, AI and health products.

The research

A Flashpacker in my family has taken three trips with you. I asked her to book a fourth on her phone and talk me through every trip. Here it is, raw. Personal details are cut.

Her voice notes and important insights

  • Why Flash Pack

“It looked a bit more premium… full of like-minded people.”

  • Seeing who's going

“It shows you how many people are already booked and where they're from.”

  • Booking on a laptop

“On my phone I couldn't really see it all.”

  • The first booking

“I was really nervous… scared I was filling out incorrect information.”

  • Roommate matching

“People I got paired with, I still talk to now.”

  • A real person

“You're never talking to a robot.”

  • The WhatsApp group

“It wasn't like turning up on a first date.”

What I found

  • The people sell the trip. She checks who's booked before she picks a date.
  • Checkout hides them. Who's going sits behind a sign-up, and the roommate match comes last.
  • Mobile asks too much. She moved to her laptop to book.

The solution

Your brief: take checkout, make it simpler, make it feel like Flash Pack, and say what you cut.

Seven cuts. Nothing new.

The people move to the front. Everything else gets out of their way.

Today · mobile checkout

  1. Four urgency signals per dateCut
  2. Sign-up to see who's goingCut
  3. Blank screen after Book NowCut
  4. Promo code firstCut
  5. Extras, payment plan, billing
  6. Terms and conditions wallCut
  7. Trip summary and roommate matchBuried
  8. Chat prompt on every screenCut

Concept · three steps

  1. 1The trip and your Packmoved up
  2. 2Your room and matchmoved up
  3. 3Paymoved down

One honest “6 places left”. The code link sits by the total. Terms become a link. A real person is offered once, where people hesitate.

Same brand. Fewer decisions. People first.

Why me, and why I want this

You're on a mission to create one million meaningful friendships. I want to help build the product behind it.

  1. A partner for your founders. I've founded and shipped my own product, so I think like a founder: commercial, fast, and happy to own the whole problem next to your Co-founder and Head of Product.
  2. An entrepreneurial designer. I go looking for problems worth solving instead of waiting for a brief. This page is the proof: research and a concept, done before the interview.
  3. Passionate about Flash Pack. Hearing a Flashpacker talk about the friends she's kept from every trip, I wanted to design the part of that story that happens on a screen.

I design matching

In my AI concierge work, I match people like-for-like. Same question as yours: who will they feel safe with?

Big trips, booked alone

My AI concierge's users plan an expensive, nervous trip abroad on their own.

WhatsApp as a product

Your Pack's group chat is where friendships start. I've designed journeys that live there.

Craft, and AI hands on

10+ years at VCCP, Fidelity, Vitality and Jack Morton. I design and build with AI daily.

Let's walk through it in 15 minutes.
